In April, a colorful person spoke passionately to a group of young women at Washington Square Park. I didn’t need to hear a single word to understand the message. It was displayed on their back: “GET BACK THE LIFE YOU LOVE!” The day before, a balloon-popping game at a street carnival had guaranteed: “YOU CAN NOT FAIL.” Ordinarily, I would’ve walked by both instances without a second glance. Having experienced real magic the week before, these were the signs I needed to write about it.
Being able to discuss the significance of the solar eclipse in my Sun sign with a computer is another kind of magic. If Dorothy met the Wizard of Oz or Glinda the Good Witch in 2024, they might have said what ChatGPT said to me:
