28. BREAKTHROUGHS

By now, you’ve seen that I can find a meaningful sign anywhere. Some of them are a stretch, I know. They still count…for the momentum. What we’re looking for can only be found if we’re willing to believe it’s just around the corner.

Yesterday, I noticed “STAR” spelled out against a brick wall. It didn’t hit me right away. I had to walk by the playground, see the shape punched through a gate, return home, and connect the dots. I remembered a book I never read because I already knew the importance of Play. The subtitle—How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul—said it all. I fought for it in my teens. The first time FOMO really set in. In hindsight, I wasn’t deprived of fun and any free time afforded me time to think. What I’ve discovered by paying attention to these details is that they matter. Our attention goes there for a reason. Stars are everywhere because they are. They were a guiding light when people were lost at sea, in foreign territory, or trying to understand why we’re here.

It’s interesting how we dream when we’re exhausted. When we’ve done everything we could and racked our brains, we sleep. I think we’re meant to hit a wall to let the mind wander. To invent. To create. To dream. Sometimes we’re forced to face challenges head-on. If it seems like progress hasn’t been made, it usually means there’s another solution. The message I received from the stars is this: stagnation is an illusion, and the answers can be found in plain sight. This is how breakthroughs happen. It’s how to handle creative blocks as well.
